PHÖNIX Cafeteria is in Simmering, around 20 metres from the Feuerhalle and opposite the Central Cemetery. Anyone visiting a grave in winter, attending a farewell or wanting to see Clemens Holzmeister's building will find a bright room here for coffee, cake and conversation.

The Feuerhalle Simmering opened on 17 December 1922 as Austria's first crematorium. Clemens Holzmeister supplied the design, and it was built on the grounds of Schloss Neugebäude. The cafeteria is just a few steps away.

What Comes to the Table

The menu offers what matters in this place. You can choose from melange, Verlängerter, cappuccino and hot chocolate, plus several kinds of tea, with a shot of rum if you like.

To eat there are sheet cakes, bacon pastry sticks, open sandwiches and toast. For wine, the choice is Grüner Veltliner, Gemischter Satz, Gelber Muskateller and Zweigelt.

A Place for the Reception After a Funeral

After a funeral it does not have to be a long meal of many courses. A reception leaves room for conversation and sympathy, without a fixed schedule.

PHÖNIX Cafeteria hosts such gatherings for up to 85 guests. Food and drinks are offered at a flat rate, and each offer is tailored individually. If needed, the cafeteria also stays open beyond its regular hours.

There is parking right by the cafeteria. The contact for requests is Monika Lechner.
